OCAVMHAS 13 YEARS IN ACTIVITIES 2008 TO 2021

OCAVMHAS as a non-profit organization has been active for over 13 years in the Mental Health Field since we were founded in 2008. Our organization holds 12 week course every year with the purpose to provide education and resources necessary for families who have loves one with mental illness.

During each week of classes, we will have doctors, specialists and members with experiences lead and share resources for our families so that they can learn techniques and skills to cope with families members who experience a mental illness.

OCAVMHAS also host multiple events within the Vietnamese community to help spread awareness of mental illness and support those within the community to stand together to fight off the stigma of mental illness. Our events also help to raise resources to further assist us in our long-term operations and services. We have hosted three Walk-a-ton at Miles Square Park and three fundraisers to raise awareness on mental illness. Funds that we raised our used to help support our ability to host future events, 12 week course classes, and to pay rent for our office space. As a non-profit organization, we receive our funding from private donors.

Our organization still tries to reach out to the Vietnamese Community at large to raise awareness and reduce the huge stigma that still dominates within our minority communities. We hope to work together, collaborate, share knowledge, and help families understand Mental Health and provide understanding and love for their relatives and loved ones. We hope to continue our purpose and make a difference in mental health within the community.
